My Review of the Sea Eagle 465 FastTrack

A new family-sized inflatable kayak came out on the market as of September 2010… the Sea Eagle 465 FastTrack..  This inflatable kayak is the longer version of the 385 FastTrack that came out earlier in the year.

Sea Eagle has long been one of the most popular inflatable kayak manufacturers and although their kayaks are enjoyed and used all over the world (including from me) the two things I felt they always lacked was speed and great tracking. I own the Sea Eagle 380x and have spent a lot of time paddling it on all types of waterways. I love my inflatable kayak but when the FastTrack came out it really appealed to me for three reasons:

1. The new design offered far better speed
2. The new extremely rigid floor and skeg offered great tracking
3. The new material offered a kayak that was extremely lightweight and consequently very easy to transport and carry

I now own the 385 FastTrack and it has become my kayak of choice. I can paddle further with far less effort and find that the lighter weight makes it easier for transport and travel.

What Makes the New 465 FastTrack So Popular

The new longer 3-seat version of the FastTrack has become extremely popular with families who want the option of all kayaking together in one kayak as well as with those who want a great performing inflatable kayak that has the room and the load capacity to be able to carry a lot of gear.

A lot of people have wondered which inflatable kayak will best suit paddling with two adults and one or two children as well as possibly a dog. It has always been a hard answer as the very few inflatable kayaks that offer the kind of room needed for that either do not perform well, do not offer great quality or are extremely expensive.

Now with the new 3-seat FastTrack it is the ideal choice. It offers:

• 3 seats and the option of adjusting the seats to suit your needs

If you are looking for an inflatable kayak that will suit families or those wanting to kayak with a lot of gear that still offers a great performance then I would highly recommend taking a look at the Sea Eagle 465 FastTrack. Although it may not be the most high-end model out there it still offers great versatility and you get a lot for your money. I personally couldn't be happier with my FastTrack and think it would appeal to quite a wide range of people.
