By Staff Journalist
The Kayak Fishing ClassicS is pleased to announce their next tournament.
The Homosassa Hazard, Extreme Tarpon Classic is scheduled for May 21 & 22.
The Host Sponsor is the famous Bayport Inn located at 4835 Cortez Blvd. In
Weeki Wachee, Florida. The famous Bayport Inn has been serving great seafood and family meals for years and is well known along the Gulf Coastal area of Florida.
The scheduled launch location is on Pine Island just a few minutes from the inn. The contestants will have a short paddle to the famed Oklahoma Flats where huge tarpon are known to be. The waters can be treacherous to power boaters due to the hidden rocks and boulders in the area. This is Tarpon Country and the kayak fishermen are going to have their hands full.

The Extreme Tarpon Classic is for the benefit of the Heroes on the Water organization which helps wounded, injured or disabled US Military Veterans by introducing them to the therapeutic qualities of kayak fishing. The Kayak Fishing ClassicS strongly supports their efforts and are very proud to assist HOW in any way possible.
The Kayak Fishing ClassicS is a national tournament series and is conducted along the Coastal Gulf States.

To the Extreme $15.99 To the Extreme is a book about life without limits. About people who thrive on danger. About people who carry the "thrill gene" - hot wired to go faster and further than most of us dare. Each spread is a visual feast of fabulous photography, capturing a hair-raising moment in time. This could be a fisherman hauling his catch from the freezing Arctic Ocean or a woman deliberately sailing her kayak over a waterfall - just for fun. To the Extreme is about the spirit of adventure - a snapshot of the skill and determination it takes to survive against the odds. A clear case of who dares wins! Contents JOBS Fire fighting A campfire, a flash of lightning... it doesn't take much to start a forest fire. Quickly flames burn through dried grass and trees, traveling at around 22 km/h (14 mph). Temperatures reach 800C (1,470F) or more. Thousands of kilometers of vegetation, wildlife, homes, and people are as risk. What do you do? CALL THE FIRE FIGHTERS! Deep sea fishing Catching crabs in the freezing Bering Sea where fishermen work shifts up to 23 hours on and one hour off. Still resting is difficult as rough seas toss men out of their bunks. There is also the danger of being washed overboard. The reward: working in a close-knit crew and high earnings. Air sea rescue Where rescue swimmers are dropped from helicopters hovering up to 18 m (60 ft) above the waves. They have to contend with huge waves and/or sharks and somehow manage to attach the panicking or sinking person to a harness so they can be winched up to safety. Plus Skyscraper builders Zoo Keepers in the lions' den Abseiling window cleaners Divers on an oil rig and lots, lots more SPORTS Extreme skiing This is speeding on skis down slopes of 45 or more - in other words very, very steep. Skiers travel at around 80 km/h (50 mph), doing their best to avoid crashing into rocks or trees, or falling into crevasses or off the edge of the mountain itself. And there is the danger of avalanche. Big wave surfing The most spectacular types of surfing where experienced surfers ride waves 9 m (30 ft) high. The upside is an incredible adrenaline rush. The downside is that a breaking wave can push a surfer down 15 meters under the water. The surfer has less than 20 seconds to get back to the surface before another wave hits... Sky diving This features the record breaking biggest connected formation of 2006. Four hundred people from 31 countries formed a flower shape 7,000 m (23,000 ft) up in the sky over Thailand. They wore the colours of the Thai flag - red, white and blue. They didn't win the record the first time they jumped. Someone was in the wrong place. So they had to go up and do it again. Plus High rope walking Pot holing Rock climbing Parkour Extreme kayaking and lots, lots more |

Kayak $74.88 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles A kayak (sometimes generalised as a canoe) is a small humanpowered boat that traditionally has a covered deck, and one or more cockpits, each seating one paddler who strokes a doublebladed paddle. The cockpit is covered by a spraydeck (skirt) that keeps the inside of the boat (and the paddlers lower body) dry. The spraydeck or similar waterproof covering attaches securely to the edges of the cockpit, preventing the entry of water from waves or spray, and making it possible, in some boats, to roll the kayak, capsizing and righting the boat without it filling with water or ejecting the passenger.
