Surfing/Skimboarding

Guaian in Eastern Samar is every surfer's haven. Local and foreign surfers flock to this venue in order to experience the waves coming from the Pacific. Guaian also takes pride in its vast stretch of white sands amidst the crowds and vendors. There is also a 300-year old church that is worth viewing as well.

Skimboarding is a popular activity in the town of Tanauan and Dulag. It only takes thirty minutes by jeepney to reach Tanauan from Tacloban and an hour going to Dulag.

Tanauan is revered as the Philippine's skimboarding capital. It holds the International Skimboarding Competition during Easter Sunday of each year. Gear for skimboarding is available for lease.

Mountaineering

Trekking in the Leyte Mountain Trail commences at the Mahagnao Volcano Natural Park from Burauen to Lake Danao Natural Park in the city of Ormoc.

A tour to this scenic rainforest will take you to the beautiful lakes of Danao, Casudsu-ran, and Malagsum. Not to mention the scenic Guinaniban Falls. Beginning from the heart of the Amandiwing Mountain Range, one would be captivated by mountains, plains, forests, and a view of Samar and Leyte islands.

The Leyte Mountain Trail offers a collection of tropical flora and fauna that includes colorful insects, dragonflies, giant millipedes, birds, to name just a few.

The People's Center is not only a venue that offers excellent shopping but also a trip down memory lane. The prices being sold in the establishment are quite affordable.

The biggest crowd drawer at the People's Center is a diorama. There are more than 80 of them in the shop. The dioramas depict the life and culture of the tribes in Tacloban. Aside from that, you can also view several papers, artifacts, and relics about Leyte and Samar.
