In Bible versus Quran: the LORD breaks in Pieces the Cedars of Lebanon
The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran (5)
This is the fifth article of the series:" The Sons of the Lord God in Bible versus Quran". The Bible says that the Lord God, the Almighty Creator, has SONS who are required to ascribe to the Lord God. The voice of the LORD is hewing fiery flames; the LORD shakes the wilderness, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon and the LORD sits enthroned over the flood.
On the other hand, the Quran says that Allah, the Almighty Creator, has neither a son nor a partner.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Sons of the Lord God in the Bible (5)
In his Psalm (29:1-10), King David says:
Ascribe to the LORD "O sons of the mighty" glory and strength, worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness, The voice of the LORD is powerful, it is over the waters, it breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters. The LORD sits enthroned over the flood.
The original Hebrew version says: ascribe to the LORD "O sons of God".
But the original word Sons of God is translated to seven different translations, the nearest one of them is the "sons of the mighty".
The Seven different translations of the "Sons of God" in 17 Biblical versions:
In 17 different versions of the Bible, the word "Son of God" is translated to seven different translations; they are sons of the mighty (in four versions), mighty ones (in four versions), heavenly beings (in four versions), mighty (in two versions) and mighty angels, angels in heaven and angels in one version each.
If you smart reader is interested, have a look at these 17 different versions of the Bible at the site of BibleGateway.com.
In addition, the strangest translation of Psalm 29:1 that you ever read is present in "The Message"; it says: "Bravo, God, bravo! Gods and all angels shout, "Encore!" In awe before the glory, in awe before God's visible power". This translation is far beyond the original Hebrew one. Note that the translator(s) uses the word God and Gods and he gives Bravo for both God and Gods!
On the other hand, the Bible does not tell the names of the Sons of the Lord God, the Bible also does not give the physical attributes of the Sons of the Lord God. In addition, the Bible does not tell what the number of the Sons of the Lord God was and how many they were?
In short, the Bible does not let us know who, how, when, where, how many etc. in respect to the Sons of the Lord God.
Furthermore, the Bible gives some informative details about the Sons of the Judah, for example, but does not give any details about the Sons of the Lord God, the Almighty Creator, who are of course very much more important than the Sons of Judah .

Psalm 29:1-10 in four different versions of the Bible:
New International Version
1 Ascribe to the LORD, O mighty ones, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
2 Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of his holiness.
3 The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD thunders over the mighty waters.
4 The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is majestic.
5 The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6 He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, Sirion like a young wild ox.
7 The voice of the LORD strikes with flashes of lightning.
8 The voice of the LORD shakes the desert; the LORD shakes the Desert of Kadesh.
9 The voice of the LORD twists the oaks and strips the forests bare. And in his temple all cry, "Glory!"
10 The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD is enthroned as King forever.
New American Standard Bible
1Ascribe to the LORD, O sons of the mighty, Ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
2Ascribe to the LORD the glory due to His name; Worship the LORD in holy array.
3The voice of the LORD is upon the waters; The God of glory thunders, The LORD is over many waters.
4The voice of the LORD is powerful; The voice of the LORD is majestic.
5The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; Yes, the LORD breaks in pieces the cedars of Lebanon.
6He makes Lebanon skip like a calf, And Sirion like a young wild ox.
7The voice of the LORD hews out flames of fire.
8The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; The LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9The voice of the LORD makes the deer to calve And strips the forests bare; And in His temple everything says, "Glory!"
10The LORD sat as King at the flood; Yes, the LORD sits as King forever.
English Standard Version
1Ascribe to the LORD, O heavenly beings, ascribe to the LORD glory and strength.
2Ascribe to the LORD the glory due his name; worship the LORD in the splendor of holiness.
3The voice of the LORD is over the waters; the God of glory thunders, the LORD, over many waters.
4The voice of the LORD is powerful; the voice of the LORD is full of majesty.
5The voice of the LORD breaks the cedars; the LORD breaks the cedars of Lebanon.
6He makes Lebanon to skip like a calf, and Sirion like a young wild ox.
7The voice of the LORD flashes forth flames of fire.
8The voice of the LORD shakes the wilderness; the LORD shakes the wilderness of Kadesh.
9The voice of the LORD makes the deer give birth and strips the forests bare, and in his temple all cry, "Glory!"
10The LORD sits enthroned over the flood; the LORD sits enthroned as king forever.
Young's Literal Translation
1A Psalm of David. Ascribe to Jehovah, ye sons of the mighty, Ascribe to Jehovah honour and strength.
2Ascribe to Jehovah the honour of His name, Bow yourselves to Jehovah, In the beauty of holiness.
3The voice of Jehovah [is] on the waters, The God of glory hath thundered, Jehovah [is] on many waters.
4The voice of Jehovah [is] with power, The voice of Jehovah [is] with majesty,
5The voice of Jehovah [is] shivering cedars, Yea, Jehovah shivers the cedars of Lebanon.
6And He causeth them to skip as a calf, Lebanon and Sirion as a son of Reems,
7The voice of Jehovah is hewing fiery flames,
8The voice of Jehovah paineth a wilderness, Jehovah paineth the wilderness of Kadesh.
9The voice of Jehovah paineth the oaks, And maketh bare the forests, And in His temple every one saith, `Glory.'
10Jehovah on the deluge hath sat, And Jehovah sitteth king -- to the age,

The Sons of the Lord God in the Quran (5)
On the other hand, the Quran makes it very clear and says that Allah, the Almighty Creator, has neither a son nor a partner.
The Quran decisively forbids saying that Allah has a son.
It is not befitting for the Majesty of Allah to take to Himself a son.
Allah has not taken any son either from the Children of Adam or from the angels.
if there were a god along with Allah, each god would have taken away what he created, he would have made it exclusively his and prevented the other [god] from having any mastery over it; and some of them would surely rise up against others, in challenge, just as the kings of this world are wont to do.
Allah is the Knower of the Unseen and the visible, what is hidden and what is observed. And exalted, magnified, be He above what they associate!, with Him of son or partners. Allah is far transcendent above all that they ascribe unto Him!
In Islam, this point is very important faith wise.
In a very simple word, Allah, the Almighty Creator, has neither a son nor a partner. Again, it is unforgivable sin to say or to believe that the One Almighty Creator [who is Allah or God or the Lord or Jehovah or whatever name(s) you are giving Him] has a son or Sons.
From the Islamic point of view, the conclusion of this essential topic that may establish or destroy the faith is that:
Any one who believe that the Almighty Creator has a son or Sons; he messes his faith up and is considered as a disbeliever and in the afterlife he will end up as an eternal inhabitant of the hell.
Any one who believes that the Almighty Creator has neither a son nor a partner he has a good faith and is considered as a believer and in the afterlife he will end up as an eternal inhabitant of the paradise.

The meanings of verses 23:91-92
The meanings of verse 23:91
Allah has not taken any son either from the Children of Adam or from the angels.
There is no any god along with Him; for then, that is, if there were a god along with Him, each god would have taken away what he created, he would have made it exclusively his and prevented the other [god] from having any mastery over it; and some of them would surely rise up against others, in challenge, just as the kings of this world are wont to do.
Glorified be Allah, an exaltation of Him, above what they ascribe, to Him, of what has been mentioned. Allah exonerated Himself above all that they allege, of all their lies.
The meanings of verse 23:92
Allah is the Knower of the Unseen and the visible, what is hidden and what is observed. It is also said that Allah is the Knower of the invisible, that which is unseen by people; it is also said the invisible includes everything that will happen in the future. And He is the Knower of the visible, which people know; it is also said that the visible includes everything that has already happened.
And exalted, magnified, be He above what they associate!, with Him of son or partners. Allah is far transcendent above all that they ascribe unto Him!
--------------------------------------------
Verses 23:91-92 of the Noble Quran in four different translations:
Verses 23:91
QARIB: Allah has not taken to himself any son, there is no other god with him. were this otherwise each god would have taken that which he created, and some of them would have risen above others; exalted is Allah beyond that they describe!
SHAKIR: never did Allah take to himself a son, and never was there with him any (other) god-- in that case would each god have certainly taken away what he created, and some of them would certainly have overpowered others; glory be to Allah above what they describe!
PICKTHAL: Allah hath not chosen any son, nor is there any god along with him; else would each god have assuredly championed that which he created, and some of them would assuredly have overcome others. glorified be Allah above all that they allege.
YUSUFALI: no son did Allah beget, nor is there any god along with him: (if there were many gods), behold, each god would have taken away what he had created, and some would have lorded it over others! glory to Allah! (he is free) from the (sort of) things they attribute to him!
Verses 23:92
QARIB: (he is) the knower of the unseen and the seen, high exalted be he above that they associate.
SHAKIR: the knower of the unseen and the seen, so may he be exalted above what they associate (with him)
PICKTHAL: knower of the invisible and the visible! and exalted be he over all that they ascribe as partners (unto him!)
YUSUFALI: he knows what is hidden and what is open: too high is he for the partners they attribute to him!

Cedar $24.95 From the mighty cedar of the rainforest came a wealth of raw materials vital to the early Northwest Coast Indian way of life, its art and culture. For thousands of years these people developed the tools and technologies to fell the giant cedars that grew in profusion. They used the rot-resistant wood for graceful dugout canoes to travel the coastal waters, massive post-and-beam houses in which to live, steam bent boxes for storage, monumental carved poles to declare their lineage and dramatic dance masks to evoke the spirit world. Every part of the cedar had a use. The versatile inner bark they wove into intricately patterned mats and baskets, plied into rope and processed to make the soft, warm, yet water-repellent clothing so well suited to the raincoast. Tough but flexible withes made lashing and heavy-duty rope. The roots they wove into watertight baskets embellished with strong designs. For all these gifts, the Northwest Coast peoples held the cedar and its spirit in high regard, believing deeply in its healing and spiritual powers. Respectfully, they addressed the cedar as Long Life Maker, Life Giver and Healing Woman. Photographs, drawings, anecdotes, oral history, accounts of early explorers, traders and missionaries highlight the text. |
