Dinghy Covers – Why we use them
If you are planning on spending your vacation on water, you might want to take your own dinghy with you. Using your own dinghy is economical if you planning on spending a lot of time on the water and can save you money on hiring one in the long term.
These small types of boats are made in different sizes. People sailing on small yachts can carry dinghies that are small or inflatable or if it is too large for the boat, it can be towed. Dinghies are usually fixed with a small ring on the bow which is used for towing or anchoring.
Major components of a dinghy are ;
Oars - As standard the dinghy is fixed with two oars on either side which are also known as rowlocks.
Motor – A powerful motor enables the dinghy to go at very high speed, for example an engine with a 15 horsepower outboard can reach speeds of up to 25 mph.
Sail – Raised up by pulling a rope, the sail can come in different shapes and sizes.
Apart from the above, dinghies should also contain life jackets, flares and a hand bailer. Various useful dinghy accessories and products are available on the market today and they can easily be ordered online.
When it comes to storing or towing them, dinghy covers come in handy. A dinghy cover is an essential item since it gives protection to the dinghy. When purchasing a dinghy cover, one should carefully select a durable and strong cover that will provide the maximum security for the boat.
A dinghy cover should be strong enough to protect the boat from the sun, rain or any other weather condition and most importantly they should come with releasing buckles, webbing nylon, fastening straps and hull straps. There are flat covers, boom up covers, trailing ones and mast up covers, all of which serve different purposes.
Manufactured in strong Poly cotton or heavy duty polyester material, dinghy covers can be made in different sizes and prices. Fit enough to be used by all ages these covers are made by using breathable waterproof material and acrylic materials and usually include an ultra violet coating. High quality ones are Anti fungicidal and lasts under any weather condition.
Usually manufactured in standard sizes these covers can be purchased online. If required one can give measurements and place an order to fit exact specifications. Dinghy covers are an ideal choice if your yacht is always on the move.
